01What is this simulator, and who is it for?
The AH-64 Maintenance Trainer is interactive 3D courseware for rotary-wing aviation sustainment training. A student can explore airframe systems in three dimensions, step through guided removal and installation procedures, and validate task knowledge with built-in checks. It is built for maintenance training organizations, schoolhouse and unit-level instructors, and government training procurement evaluation — as a demonstration of the delivery platform rather than as a fielded technical manual.
02Is the maintenance data real or authoritative?
No — it is demonstration content. Every procedure, torque value, part reference, and fault condition in this build is notional, authored solely to exercise the platform. It is not derived from, and must not be treated as equivalent to, controlled technical publications such as the TM 1-1520-238 series or any other governing maintenance publication. Never use this application to perform work on an actual aircraft. Under contract, the notional content set is replaced with government-furnished IETM data ingested through the same content schema, so the interaction model and 3D presentation carry over unchanged while the authoritative source of truth becomes the government's own technical data.
03What are the system and browser requirements?
A modern browser with WebGL 2 support — current Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari. Either a discrete or an integrated GPU is sufficient; the scene is built to run on standard-issue laptops, not workstations. It works on desktop and on tablet, with touch orbit, pan, and zoom on the 3D viewport. Hardware acceleration must be enabled in the browser. No plugin, no install, and no download is required.
04Is my training progress saved?
Yes, but locally. Viewed components, completed procedures, and quiz scores are written to your browser's localStorage on the device you are using. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so progress does not follow you to another device or another browser, and it is erased whenever you clear browsing/site data or use a private window. In a contracted deployment, progress can instead be posted to the customer's own LMS or LRS (for example over SCORM or xAPI) inside their accredited boundary.
05Can it be deployed offline or on an air-gapped network?
Yes. The trainer is a client-side application and can be produced as a fully static export with all 3D assets bundled, then served from an internal web server, a training-network share, or an approved kiosk image with no outbound connectivity. This suits classroom networks, shipboard and depot environments, and closed government enclaves. Contact us for packaging details and an offline build.
06Can additional airframes or content sets be added?
Yes. The application is schema-driven: systems, components, procedure steps, and knowledge checks are defined as data rather than hard-coded, so a new platform, subsystem, or task set is an authoring effort against the same schema and 3D pipeline. Additional airframes, expanded system coverage, and customer-specific task lists can all be added without rebuilding the trainer itself.
07How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Email [email protected]. For a bug, please include your browser and version, your operating system, whether you are on desktop or tablet, the system or procedure you were in when it happened, and what you expected versus what occurred. A screenshot helps a great deal. Feature requests and capability questions are welcome at the same address — we reply within 48 hours.

Known limitations

  • All maintenance content in this build is notional demonstration data, not authoritative technical publication data.
  • The 3D model is a training representation of the airframe, not an engineering-accurate or dimensionally certified CAD asset.
  • Progress is stored per-browser in localStorage — it does not sync across devices and is lost when site data is cleared.
  • Requires WebGL 2 and hardware acceleration; very old devices, locked-down browser profiles, or software rendering may perform poorly.
  • No multi-user accounts, instructor dashboards, or class rostering in this demonstration build; LMS/LRS integration is a contracted add-on.
  • Screen-reader coverage of the 3D viewport is limited; procedure text, controls, and knowledge checks are keyboard navigable.
